We can now announce that two major speakers have agreed to appear at this year's Women's Week.
--Susan Faludi is an American feminist, journalist, and author. She won a Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Journalism in 1991 for a report on the buyout of Safeway Stores, Inc., the Kirkus Prize in 2016 for "In the Darkroom," which was also a finalist for the 2017 Pulitzer Prize in biography. Her 1991 book "Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women" argued that the 1980s saw a backlash against feminism due to the spread of stereotypes of working women. The book has become a classic text, warning women that the gains of feminism should not be taken for granted.
--Donita Sparks is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who co-founded the band L7. She will present the 2016 documentary L7: Pretend We're Dead, directed by Sarah Price. The film features original footage and interviews with Ms. Sparks and other members of L7. It was nominated for a VO5 NME Award for Best Music Film. Ms. Sparks will answer questions after the film.
These amazing women will appear at Ball State's Women's Week if we can acquire the funds to bring them here. Please donate to help make this year's women's week a reality.
