The Department of Media at Ball State includes exceptional facilities and faculty. Our production facilities and equipment are industry-standard, and our faculty and staff are active nationally and internationally as producers, creators, and scholars. At Ball State, Media majors have the best of both worlds. Our program is large enough to offer students a variety of experiences, equipment, and spaces while being small enough that you'll easily be able to get involved your first semester on campus. A gift to the Media Special Support Fund will help support many exciting initiatives including immersive learning opportunities, and travel opportunities such as the LA Experience trip.
Help Open the Door to Hollywood for Aspiring Filmmakers
Each year, a dedicated group of students has the rare and inspiring opportunity to travel to Los Angeles—the heart of the film and television industry—for an immersive, behind-the-scenes experience. During this trip, students visit major studios, meet with industry professionals, and get a firsthand look at what it really means to build a career in one of the world’s most influential creative hubs.
For many, it’s more than just a trip—it’s a pivotal moment. It’s a chance to imagine their future, to see what’s possible, and to determine whether a life and career in Los Angeles could be right for them after graduation.
But this kind of opportunity comes with a price. Flights, lodging, transportation, and meals quickly add up, and while our department offers some support, it’s often not enough to cover the full cost. Many of our students have never traveled beyond Indiana, and without additional financial help, experiences like this remain out of reach.
