Support for Students in PK-12 Educational Leadership

Our Department of Educational Leadership provides three robust academic programs (MAE, EdS, EdD) for graduate students to pursue degrees and licensure in PK-12 educational administration and supervision. We want to support graduate students in our program as they strive to develop and sustain PK-12 learning environments that are robust, socially just, and culturally relevant to better meet all students’ needs.

**We are hosting this fundraiser to provide our future students with financial support to offset institutional charges. Support may vary in amount and type per graduate student in the PK-12 educational administration programs.**

Thank you for your consideration in supporting this important endeavor!

Student and alumni testimonials:

To encapsulate my experience at Ball State University for my EdS and EdD, I would describe the programs with two words: supportive and rigorous. All of my professors were compassionate and courteous to the fact that I was a working mom and wife. The Graduate School - Educational Leadership team became more like family to me throughout the years. The coursework has prepared me for much more than I could have imagined. With the education provided from Ball State University, I have had the opportunity to move across the United States and thrive in the profession of education.

Jonique Burton, EdD (’20), EdS (’12)

Principal, Early College Academy, Los Angeles Unified School District

As I have continued to obtain more degrees from Ball State University, I have seen myself become more knowledgeable and effective in my position. The educational leadership department is full of staff and professors that truly care and push you to do your best. One of the best attributes that has been beneficial for me is that I have all of the contact information of my professors. If I ever need anything, I can call or text my professors for assistance. This is such a great program that is packed full of outstanding instructors and experience.

Chad Crews, MAE ('14), EdS ('22), Anticipated EdD ('23)

Assistant Principal/School Resource Officer

Pursuing my doctorate at Ball State University has been one of the best experiences of my life. The coursework has been rigorous and relevant. The program has helped me to realize my full potential as a successful educational leader. And the best part-the professors are knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly care about their students.

Rochelle Maynard, Anticipated EdD ('23)

PK-8 Principal/Curriculum Director

I graduated from BSU in the Ed Leadership Department in 2003 with my EdS and in 2004 with my EdD. It was during that last year that I received a scholarship through the program that made it possible for me to complete my research for my doctorate and my degree. I am currently as Associate Clinical Professor in the program after serving several different public-school districts as a principal and as an Assistant Superintendent. I enjoy working with our students at Ball State and enjoy watching them grow into leadership position across IN and around the world!

Michael Shaffer, EdS ('03), EdD ('04)

Associate Clinical Professor of Educational Leadership

I value the work that the faculty of BSU’s district leadership program apply to make the degree(s) attainable to working professionals. Online/asynchronous programs are at risk for a lack of connections and relationships, but that is not the case. Despite never meeting in person, the genuine feeling that the faculty cares for you, your family and your ultimate success, is ever present. Receiving a scholarship is a reminder that your hard work and efforts do not go unnoticed and are valued by the faculty of the program.

Chief Financial Officer, Lebanon Community School Corporation

I had an excellent experience with the Education Leadership Department at Ball State University. The professors and staff were extremely supportive when I had to take a break from the program when I lost my son in 2016. My advisor, Dr. Salloum provided encouragement, critical feedback and step-by-step instructions on how to effectively write and defend my doctoral dissertation. I would highly recommend this program for any student who would like to make a significant impact in education!
