Fifty years ago, President Nixon signed Title IX into law. Title IX is part of the Education Amendments of 1972 that states, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance." Title IX created a more equal playing field for male and female athletes, and has given women student-athletes the recognition they deserve.
Ball State University Athletics has a long and proud tradition of successful women's teams. The first women's athletics teams were field hockey and women's basketball in 1960 and it has grown ever since! Ball State University remains committed to empowering female student-athletes, coaches, and staff - both past and present. This year, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Title IX and invite you to remain United In Flight to invest, impact, and inspire our female student-athletes by making a gift that will support all women's teams.
What is the Women's Athletics Fund? The Women's Athletics Fund was created in 2021 and will allow alumni, fans, and friends to share in the commitment of building and providing the best experiences for our female student-athletes.
