UPDATE! We now have a S-T-R-E-T-C-H goal of $3000!
We met our original goal of raising $1500 in under two weeks. Our campaign runs until October 31. We want to make our fund sustainable; that is the purpose of this effort. If we raise $3000, we will ensure the ability to give students full awards for the next three years.
Let's do this!
Systemic racism and anti-Blackness are entrenched within U.S. society, of which higher education is a part. On the heels of the COVID-19 pandemic and the murder of George Floyd, the higher education program faculty became even more aware of the need to connect espoused values with action. Therefore, this fund was created as one means to address and redress systemic racism and anti-Blackness through social justice research in higher education.
Our goal is to sustainably provide two awards per year in the amount of $500 to students enrolled in the Ed.D. in Higher Education whose research forefronts social justice imperatives. Criteria for awards are as follows--
By giving five dollars, you are meaningfully supporting this important fund. We have challenged all of our students in the program to make an investment in themselves and in their colleagues!
Giving at this level will pay for one of our students to attend one of the many Virtual Research Learning Series courses offered by AERA. See https://www.aera.net/Professional-Opportunities-Funding/AERA-Virtual-Research-Learning-Series2020
Giving at this level would provide an opportunity for a student to attend a workshop at ICQI. See https://icqi.org/home/workshops/
Giving at this level would provide a student with a one-year membership to ASHE as well as the conference registration fee. See https://www.ashe.ws/registration2020
Giving at this level would allow us to provide one student with the full award, which could open many doors for the student and provide them with a broad audience for their work.
