Alumni, family, friends and fans, we need your support!
The 2022 International Forensic Association tournament is in Mexico City and the BSU Speech team can't wait to hop on a plane and spend a week in Mexico giving speeches, sharing stories, and bringing home trophies. As many of you know our budget only begins to cover the costs of regional tournament travel, so we need your help. The funds we raise here will directly defray the students' cost of participation-- it'll go to plane tickets, accommodations, accommodations, and entry fees. The 10 students traveling to this international tournament will represent the best of Ball State. Our 2022 IFA team is a group of students who are hard-working, bright, and committed to making our communities better. As a group they challenge all of us to speak up, take action, and demand a more just world.
Why you want to support this project: The last few years have been, to put it mildly, tough. The pandemic changed everything we knew about competing on a speech team. Face to face coaching, team meetings, traveling to tournaments, riding in the van (listening to hot jams!), networking with competitors from other schools, staying in hotels, having a live audience for our messages-- all, just... gone. Instead, the team suited up and stayed home, alone in BSU classrooms with nothing but a camera and a zoom room. The same rigor of competition, but with the magic sucked right out. No one would have blamed the team for just opting out, just saying 'no thanks, too big of an ask.' But these students didn't say that. They stayed in there, representing their team on the regional and national stage. They continued to demand excellence of themselves and their teammates, and they did it during a coaching staff transition-- all of last year being led only by equally generous and hardworking graduate students. As BSU's moratorium on travel has lifted, the simple reason to support this group is because they deserve it. They have earned this opportunity to travel, to compete with the best of the best, and to do it live and in the flesh on the world's stage.
This will be Ball State's first appearance at IFA since 1998. Please help us put ‘em on a plane! Thanks for your support and please share to help make this trip possible. #bsuspeechonaplane

This would cover IFA entry fees for one student. Now they can take their Info AND their Prose!
It's one tenth of a round trip plane ticket for one student-- that's like 320 miles!
This level of support is enough to take care of a meal for the whole group! Lunch on you, probably tacos!
This level is enough to put one of our team members up in a hotel for the whole trip! We're not at the Four Seasons, but maybe a room with a view?
At this level, you fund one of our students round trip airfare! Put your tray tables up and make sure your seats are in the upright position, because we're landing in Mexico City!
This level of participation will put one of our team members on the plane AND enter them in the tournament AND house and feed them for the whole trip! Unbelievably cool, for real.
