The Fashion Merchandising Association (FMA) is a campus organization designed to help members of the fashion community gain experience in the field and becoming aware of career or internship opportunities. In spring 2019, we won an award for the most improved campus organization with 50 members or less.
Some of our projects include doing the window displays at our college bookstore, hosting a pop-up shop to raise money and donate clothes to an organization of our choice, provide scholarship opportunities, host guest speakers, and more. We can only go so far as to invite business owners that are close to our university to be our guest speakers and potential internship/employers, but many of our members have dreams of living and working elsewhere. This project aims to send students and one faculty co-advisor of the Fashion Merchandising Association to the National Retail Federation (NRF) conference meeting with top retailers who interact and hold professional development seminars for university students.
This event is located in New York City, New York, and we will be going January 10th to the 14th. It is the world’s largest retail conference and expo. It is a great place to catch up on trends and the latest technology. Members at this event include Sephora, Target, Macy's, and more. It is a great way to find potential internship or employment opportunities.
Our budget breakdown includes student costs such as a hotel, airplane flights, and the NRF membership fee. Your donations will be greatly appreciated by us. You will help us achieve our goals and be better prepared for our professional future. Any amount will help.
