Your donation supports participants who will tour Ireland and Scotland and explore the linguistic and cultural history of Deaf culture in Dublin, Ireland and Edinburgh, Scotland as well as historical sites in each country. This trip is specifically designed to explore Deaf culture and education in both Ireland and Scotland. There’s no requirement to know ASL! All students welcome as this is a cultural awareness and diversity experience. This exploration is the ideal context where you can immerse yourself in both European and Deaf culture.
Students will participate in excursions to local sites. In Ireland, we will take a walking tour of Dublin, make a visit to the Deaf Village, visit a Deaf school, explore Dublin City University, The participants will also take a day trip to Belfast, Northern Ireland to explore the Giant’s Causeway. In Scotland, we will visit the Highlands, cruise Loch Ness, visit Urquhart Castle then head to Edinburgh for a walking tour, a visit to the Scottish Sensory Centre, a visit to a deaf school, and then spend time on the University of Edinburgh campus.

Join us for a Saturday morning workshop to meet the tour leaders and some of the students who will be traveling abroad. We'll introduce you to the basics of ASL and teach you to fingerspell your name!
You are invited to attend the Early Childhood in Deaf Education Workshop/ Conference as a special guest of the program director, Dr. Raschelle Neild. This full day workshop will focus on working with young children who have hearing loss.
